The
Right Hand Grip Rule gives the direction of the magnetic field around
a current carrying conductor. It is in the direction of the fingers,
as you grip the conductor with your right hand and your thumb points
in the direction of the current.
The rule can also be used to indicate the direction of the
magnetic field around a solenoid, made up of wire loops.
