Plane Mirrors

1. It is of the same size as the object.

It is formed as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of it,below, no matter from which angle or point the image is viewed.

3. It is always virtual, so the rays do not form the image, but must be traced back to the position of the image as above. The reflected rays, shown in black are trace back in red, to the position of the image.
4. It is laterally inverted, but the same way up as the image as shown below.

It must be noted that though the image is the same size as the object, the mirror does not need to be for a full image to be formed. A mirror the height of a man. Suitably positioned, enables the man below to view his own full image.
