I don’t understand why everyone living in England should be forced to learn English. People living in Wales are not forced to learn Welsh and people living in Scotland are not foced to learn Celtic.
A country should have a broad range of available skills and having a range of spoken languages is part of that.
It also means that when we are annoyed with someone, we can often insult them in a language they do not understand and avoid war.

Make them get over over it.
Then give them a kick.

The Prime Minister looked pretty pathetic this week after the Grenfill Tower fire, in which about 100 people were burnt to death, as she went to the scene and refused to meet any victims – some say she was chased away by protesters.

It looks really bad for the Prime Minister to be escorted everywhere by men with guns and escorted away at the first sign of trouble.
Imagine then, the Prime Minister visiting a college or school. Such places are not known for their enthusiasm for Conservative Prime Ministers. She might well be jostled in the corridor, and any action by those big men with guns would soon get onto facebook and youtube.
She might not even be able to make herself heard as all those under 18s chant in unison:
‘WE WANT THE VOTE!’
‘WE WANT THE VOTE!’
‘WE WANT THE VOTE!’
The Tories don’t have a majority. It would only take tiredness to bring them down.

IN the UK minorities are often victims of hate crimes.
Not as well reported is that many minorities hate other minorities. Pakistanis hate Indians and vice versa. One of my black students hates arabs – he thinks they are all terrorists. A lot of black people have very little respect for Nigerians.
It is hust a little bit depressing to see hate going round and round in a great big circle.

Once a day, the fish in my pond see a tall shadowy figure set against the sky approach the border of their world, then food falls from the sky.
I must seem like a GOD to those fish.
