Chemical Students

‘Chemical Students’ is my name for students that take any sort of drugs that aid study, like ritalin, anti depressants or cocaine.
Why aren’t students tested for drugs like these?
Athletes undergo dope testing.
I have a trucker friend who is tested for drugs every three months.
Students who take drugs to aid study are cheating, and end up frying their brain for the sake of their studies.

No More AS – Levels

Apparently the AS – Level is to end as a standalone qualification. Some students will now study for a year, geta bare fail or even a pass – and I have heard of one student who got a C – and be denied the chance to continue to the full A – Level. They will find a year of study has been wasted.
Who made this decision?

Don’t do it, Don’t do it, OK do it

When a whole political party is told not to do it, what should they do?
The London Labour Party was told by Tony Blair not to choose Ken Livingston as Mayoral candidate, then everyone said not to elect Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader.
Now the bigwigs in the American Republican party are saying not to choose Donald Trump as their candidate for President.
Members of the Republican party are idiots for choosing Trump. But the bigwigs are bigger idiots for thinking that people should do what they are told.

Doomed to Fail

Two Summers ago, I received a call from a woman whose son was in the first year at Imperial studying physics.
He had failed his first year exams and had retakes in eight weeks could I tutor him?
That’s what I’m here for, so I said I would talk to him.
But…
Having failed his first year, he had taken himself off to some remote island in the Caribbean, which had no regular air service, and apparently he wanted me to tutor him via webcam. When I spoke to him, over the webcam, he was drunk, or drugged, or both.
I declined.
His mother then suggested she fly me out to him, I presume by private plane.
The whole thing was starting to make extremely little sense by this stage, and I declined.
What is the point anyway for me, nannying some drunk, drugged rich kid away from the bar and the beach and the golf course somewhere in the Carribean so that he can carry on a charade, of pretending to study while actually parting away drinking away his time at University and eventually failing his degree anyway or getting only a pass and having to settle for a job in his daddy’s company?

Nothing Stinks Like Failure

Success has a wonderful perfume about it. Lavender or rose. There is nothing rancid or rotting about being successful, even if it only only the level of success that means you have a house to call your own and don’t depend on the state for any of your income.
On the other hand, reaching the age of 70 and having nothing to look back on but a life earning the minimum wage and getting all your pleasure from drugs, drink and vice stinks, and not just because some of these people don;t feel the need to wash.
Failure has an awful odour all its own.

Truth to Money

I am not a miracle worker.
I don’t award qualifications.
You won’t get a qualification if you are not willing to work.
I can’t put knowledge in your head without some effort on your part, no matter how much you pay me and how hard I try.
Reading and understanding a question is as hard as understanding the material you need to answer it.
A student can double the benefit they get from a lesson by doing the questions I set, and triple the benefit if they regularly do exam papers.
Don’t assume that a tutor will get you the grade you need.
You need to make an effort equal to mine.

Why some people don’t like maths

People don’t like what they don’t understand.

Quoted by a Book

astarmathsandphysics is probably referenced more than once in a book – categories of notes have been published in Pakistan – but at the moment the only reference I can find in any book is in ‘[Nature and Numbers: A Mathematical Photo Shooting’ yy Georg Glaeser.

Lost Piece of Nothing

I lost a woolly hat today that I bought for 50p from a car boot sale.
What really gets on my conscience about the trivia I lose is not the cost, but the thought that the Earth has been raped to make our little bits of trivia and we are careless enough to lose them.
