You can’t be British unless you think like us

When British politicians talk about Muslims this is what they are saying. There has been an undercurrent of discussion implying this message for a long time now. No wonder many Muslims feel rejected by British society and fall victim to religious nutters.

When victimised by officialdom

Think this:
It must be my fate to be taunted by stupid men, and women, who gather up their little bits of paper and sense into a mute point, and throw it…
It takes less to subdue you than it does to silence a dog doesn’t it?

Emily Bronte was fond of silencing her dog with brute force.

What are the odds of this?

A student of mine who wanted to study medicine at kings failed maths a level because her school forgot to teach her the c4 module she needed.
The odds against such sheer incompetence must be great indeed.
I mentioned this to another student who also wanted to go to medical school. She said ‘my father in on the interviewing panel at kings’.
Incredible odds multiplied by incredible odds. Truly incredible.
My unfortunate student nevertheless got into kings.
I imagine she thwacked hermaths teacher.

Never mind. You are not old until you’re 20.

When I was 17

I saw myself caught in the glare of my own minds eye, and I couldn’t tell myself apart from the greatest superhero of the twenty first century.

Alienated from the governments version of Islam

Not just Muslims who feel alienated when the government starts talking about Islam.
I do too.
I feel alienated from any man in power who says I have the right to think only certain things, that because I am British I have to believe in British values.
The government and everyone in it is full of crap. Past British governments never believed in the British values we have today. If anyone picks any British value I can pick a government thst never had that value as one of theirs.
Anyone who hears lies and hypocrisy when the government speaks is not alone.
Muslim children should be taught to pick apart the lies told by the British government, or else they will go mad trying to believe them.

Growth not a fixed mindset

Just listened to some educationbabble on radio4 about children having a growth not a fixed mindset being more intelligent. Probably no coincidence that the proponent of this theorem is american.
I have my own theory of learning. It matters less how much you know than how well you can apply what you know to what you need to do.
Just keeping the British end up.

Could not afford to attend my own graduation

I just heard about half of university students could not afford to attend their own graduation. A lot of universities see it as another opportunity to screw students, parents and relatives out of a nice wad of dosh.
This is not new.
I could not afford to attend any graduations and anyway thought the money was better spent on beer.

A Lesson in Life

Look for opportunity in every piece of bad news.
I have just heard rhat the foreign office is telling British people to get out of Tunisia. A lot of people will be cancelling their holidays, leaving flights and hotel bookings unused.
I WANT THEM!!!
If you have booked and paid for your holiday in Tunisia but won’t go, can I have it?

Debt and debt

The government is to change student maintenance grants into loans in order to save money.
I have more suggestions in this vein.
One day the debt may be sold to loan companies who will want to collect their money. It will be hard.  There are in fact a lot of outstanding febts will can be packaged and sold – like unpaid taxes and court fines. It can all add to the debt merry go round and we can burn all the paper it generates to keep warm.
