As a trainee teacher years ago, I had to take a gcse intermediate paper &#8211; though I had a maths degree, which most other teachers didn&#8217;t.<br \/>\nThe lowest mark that a trainee got and was allowed to continue the course was 15%. Incidentally, I was never interested in becoming a teacher &#8211; too much paperwork and hassle.
