How to Be Better Than Average

Most people think they are more intelligent than average - by which we mean 'mean', and most drivers think they are better than the average driver. They are probably wrong, but there are circumstances in which most people are above average.
For example. most people have two legs. Some people have one leg, and a few people have no legs. Nobody has three legs, or four or more. The average number of legs therefore is less than two, but since most people have two, most people are above average by this measure. The same argument works for most human body parts.
On the other hand, by some measures, most of us are below average. Most people have one head. There are very few people with two heads. and probably none with three heads. Anyone with no head is dead. Hence by this measure, most people are below average.
