Offer them a cup of tea or coffe. I personallydo not eat biscuits. If I am offered them, I decline, but do not mind being offered.
Give them a comfortable place to sit. If it is cold turn the heating on.
Don't try and bargain them down on price. The price may be set by an agency. Don't try and bargain with them outside of any agency they are with.
Make sure they are paid, if they turn up, even if you turn them away at the door or end the lesson early If you don't pay you may be taken to the small claims court and have to pay additional costs or end up with a county court judgement, which might affect your credit rating.
If you have to cancel, give at least one days notice. You probably won't be charged. You will almost certainly be charged if you cancel at the doorstep, or if someone turns up at an empty house because they have not been told the lesson is cancelled. This is also a display on a customer''s part of rudeness and bad faith. Again, you may have to pay the lesson fee, and additional court costs.
