Standard Form
A number is expressed in standard form if it is written as

We are usually give a number and asked to write it in standard form:
Example: Write 342 in standard form

Or given a number in standard form and asked to write it as an ordinary number:

A typical question might be: Find the area of the rectangle and write your answer in standard form.
