Retaking Maths/English GCSE

All the British exam boards - AQA, Edexcel and OCR - hold November sittings for GCSE Maths and English. Without GCSE Maths and English students may find it difficult to enter University. Any student who has failed either of these exams should retake them at some point.
Retaking at the same time as sitting internal lower sixth school exams, with lots of exams scheduled is undesirable, and resitting during the A2 exams - which a student will only have one chance to pass without retaking a whole year - is even more so. Any student needing to retake GCSE Maths or English would need a good reason not to retake during the November session during their lower sixth year. Their school will probably cater for these. If they do not, the student will need to take the exam as a private candidate.
