Functions of x in Given Proportion
Suppose expressions
\[f(x)=2x-3, \: g(x)=3x-1\]
are in the ratio
\[3:5\]
.
To find
\[x\]
use the above information to form the equation
\[\frac{2x-3}{3}=\frac{3x-1}{5}\]
\[5(2x-3)=3(3x-1)\]
\[10x-15=9x-3\]
\[10x-9x=15-3\]
\[x=12\]
